What is Burlesque?
Burlesque can be a lot of things, and the Rude Revue prides itself on presenting a variety of performance styles. Burlesque is a theatrical presentation set to music and usually involving strip tease. It can be sexy, gory, funny, emotional, and so much more! Burlesque is for every body - regardless of size, race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. So if you are afraid of seeing some skin, burlesque is not for you.
What's the etiquette for audience behavior?
WATCHING THE SHOW: Find a seat, and enjoy the show! Feel free to get up to go to the bar for a drink or make a bathroom run in between the routines. If you like something you see, cheer! Clap! Wolf whistle! We want to hear you're appreciation! But please don't have conversations during the routine - it's very distracting to the performers and we want them to be able to give you the best show possible. We also recommend watching with your eyes and not through your cell phone. Don't worry! We will post pictures and videos of the performances on our Facebook page for you to share with your friends.
TIPPING: Bring cash to show your monetary appreciation! We will send some sexy people around to collect your dollar bills. Make sure you ask them for permission before tipping in their clothing! Consent is key! We split the tips evenly among all the performers at the end of the night. Of course, tipping is appreciated, but not expected. Don't have cash on hand, but would like to contribute? Send an E-Tip with the show date in the notes to AnnieMaeAllure on Venmo/CashApp or [email protected] on PayPal/Google Pay.
PHYSICAL CONTACT: The Rude Revue does feature the talents of some VERY sexy and scandalously clad people. We ask that you do not touch anyone, performer or patron, without their consent. Our performers are contractually obligated to obtain your consent before touching you as well.
BE NICE!!!: The Rude Revue is a safe space for EVERYONE. Racism, sexism, body shaming, and harassment of any kind are grounds for immediate dismissal from the venue. Having trouble with a performer or another audience member? Tell one of our awesome volunteers and we will take care of it right away.
